Long before she became a philosopher, author, and public intellectual, Dr. Tamanna Khosla was a child captivated by the mysteries of the universe. She hopes to contribute towards creating a world where opportunities are distributed more equitably and where the most vulnerable sections of society are empowered to lead lives of dignity and purpose.

The road, however, has been far from easy. Her journey has been marked by personal and professional challenges that tested her endurance and faith. Circumstances left her without professional stability for several years, a period that could have discouraged even the most determined individual. Instead, she chose to transform adversity into productivity.

“I have always believed that sustained hard work eventually finds its own path,” she reflects. “Difficult periods can either diminish a person or deepen their resolve.”

It was during these challenging years that she immersed herself in research and writing. Rather than surrendering to uncertainty, she focused on creating knowledge. The result was an impressive body of work that includes more than ten books written over eight years, alongside numerous articles exploring social, political, and philosophical themes. Over the years, her contributions have earned significant recognition. Among her achievements are the UGC Junior Research Fellowship and Senior Research Fellowship, alongside prestigious honours such as the Buddha, Confucius and Gandhi Award for Excellence in Social and Political Theorising in 2025. She has also received international recognition for her scholarly and intellectual contributions.

For Dr. Khosla, leadership is not about influence for its own sake. It is about possessing the courage to think independently and the conviction to pursue one’s own path. “A true leader does not create followers,” she says. “A true leader inspires others to become leaders themselves.”

Today, the same curiosity that once led a young girl to gaze at the sky continues to guide Dr. Tamanna Khosla’s journey. The questions have evolved, but the pursuit remains unchanged.
